DOC De Coronis Merlot

“De Coronis” Lago di Corbara DOC Merlot

Castello di Corbara's Lago di Corbara DOC Merlot Reserve wine is produced with choice Merlot grapes obtained from a vineyard historically called "Villa de Coronis", from which the wine takes its name, and nowadays corresponding to Podere Corone, a vineyard of about 5 hectares with a medium-texture soil on alluvial substrata. The production does not exceed 40 quintals/hectare and the maximum annual production is around 18000 bottles. Being a Reserve wine, only the best harvests permit its production, and still in a limited number of bottles. Vinification and maceration take place in steel containers for around 15-18 days at controlled temperature. When malolactic fermentation takes over from the initial fermentation, the wine is transferred into small oak casks (Tonneaux) with a capacity of 5 hectolitres each, it remains there for over 16 months, and it's decanted only once for cleaning purposes. The wine is then bottle-aged for 7-9 months before being put on the market.
